was The Chronicles of Prydain. Every Nerd in the seventies read this series
before Lord of the Rings. Following the rise of Taran, the lowly pig keeper, In

purchased the rights fairly quickly. Then used that carrot to hire the next
generation animation talent. Which they did, should have set up Disney for
domination for the next generation.<p></p><p class="MsoNormal"><o:p></o:p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXCzPjo6F7SQplfBIQwZLvRcf3Izjj3SIgjI3sxHb88ae3NwNqWFoQ755tz51pCtOl5Ygnmt4x6P0uAGgxRNokOwx2-mxo_L9hJ7zajGjKQ_w0NRxujCMZ2Na8hjMZSdSJZXdYlU9TRJHrvqcW9FGVuMZDIs_CB2HzakDLWmTMVtd3KwkPwJ1Ztsqg/s259/TBC%20mid.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="194" data-original-width="259" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXCzPjo6F7SQplfBIQwZLvRcf3Izjj3SIgjI3sxHb88ae3NwNqWFoQ755tz51pCtOl5Ygnmt4x6P0uAGgxRNokOwx2-mxo_L9hJ7zajGjKQ_w0NRxujCMZ2Na8hjMZSdSJZXdYlU9TRJHrvqcW9FGVuMZDIs_CB2HzakDLWmTMVtd3KwkPwJ1Ztsqg/w400-h300/TBC%20mid.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p>Unfortunately, with Walt Disney’s passing The Nine Old Men
were left running the show. Walt was the visionary, extremely talented, and
driving force that was Disney. The Nine Old Men were his minions, carrying out
the creative out pouring. Talented in their own right but they weren’t the Disney
magic. They also were used to having a wonderful advantage of being the only
game in town in several ways. Not much competition for animation movies,
children’s entertainment or color. Where else could one see vibrant colors? By
the time work started on The Black Caldron they were well aged. The Nine Old
men notably all worked on ‘Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs’ 1937. Fast forward
50 years they were past their creative prime. It might be unfair and even
blasphemy to say such things. But they didn’t grow up with Black Caldron and by
all accounts the attempts at bringing the characters to animation life were
subpar to the next generation that was brought in to work on this movie. In
reality no one was running the show over the course of almost twenty years on
this project, all sorts of people were signing off on stories, character
development, ideas, technology, what format to use that made little sense. And
no one seemed to remember why or who made these decisions.</p><p class="MsoNormal"><o:p></o:p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjfGFOxTNKiJKBRST1MuuEOxMEQGTXU_GccVSYfgi47uYpuw49tjCC_Pftmr1ga-xlDPy6E2BG7sYrZYQAueEUa8rogGWNWA8xdw5R9ecqiyqpfgn8SM3W9LoMYKEjQ96uTpw63nuWLyD5U0xx7_USVfvHLzAARi51914BRpvP1IO6p98v2yDg6rfvK/s1200/TBC%20horned%20king.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="630" data-original-width="1200" height="210" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjfGFOxTNKiJKBRST1MuuEOxMEQGTXU_GccVSYfgi47uYpuw49tjCC_Pftmr1ga-xlDPy6E2BG7sYrZYQAueEUa8rogGWNWA8xdw5R9ecqiyqpfgn8SM3W9LoMYKEjQ96uTpw63nuWLyD5U0xx7_USVfvHLzAARi51914BRpvP1IO6p98v2yDg6rfvK/w400-h210/TBC%20horned%20king.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><p></p><p class="MsoNormal">Don Bluth left due to creative signation, taking a number of

<p class="MsoNormal">This movie sort of became the changing of the guard at
Disney. In came Michael Eisner and Roy E Disney changing the random decisions
being made by anyone that walked by, lifted the ban on sequels, having screen
plays written instead of a couple vague story boards (worked with simple fairy
tales) less so with a movie spanning over 5 books with a cast of 30 characters,
focusing on more grown-up entertainment.</p><p class="MsoNormal"><o:p></o:p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen="" class="BLOG_video_class" height="266" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/mIuK4OZCWbU" width="320" youtube-src-id="mIuK4OZCWbU"></iframe></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mIuK4OZCWbU">Troubled History short video</a><br /></div><p></p><p class="MsoNormal">The Black Cauldron is an enjoyable movie. Stripped down to a
few characters, having a boy, girl, black caldron and the Horned King. The
animation is very Disney, the story moves quickly due to trying to fit so many
elements of the first two books. While it fails to capture the saga, it does
unfold a good little movie. If marketed better and released in the mid
seventies instead of a decade late it could have been a decent hit. Being stuck
in development and trying to use outdated format with several methods that
didn’t add much or work out that added to a ballooned budget of 44 million. The
Great Mouse Detective that was release one year later had a budget of 14
million was considered a hit with a million less dollar opening weekend. <o:p></o:p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghz9FluSsxxZCrtR8oZSNeWxOXKQeqC10bUKZWX30yh9qMclAbwwPugpapdlBy6RA7YRHL1MtbOMRkMxwE0D8zpbvHsEWtHc7iBm5R-RXG1APiZSzAK1po1_KXnbA5GigRVxbvR7PMQ6y2qlSRQFTp4bAeg0VHKMLtExOX1HESAtZXBpCXDjwAUPsJ/s1049/TBC%20end.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="497" data-original-width="1049" height="190" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghz9FluSsxxZCrtR8oZSNeWxOXKQeqC10bUKZWX30yh9qMclAbwwPugpapdlBy6RA7YRHL1MtbOMRkMxwE0D8zpbvHsEWtHc7iBm5R-RXG1APiZSzAK1po1_KXnbA5GigRVxbvR7PMQ6y2qlSRQFTp4bAeg0VHKMLtExOX1HESAtZXBpCXDjwAUPsJ/w400-h190/TBC%20end.jpeg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p class="MsoNormal"><br /></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Low key, suttle, unassuming could be used to describe this
film. From these words one might think it’s not worth watching. But these are
the qualities that make it so good. And are maddening to any horror fan or
director. So simple and under the radar. Most probably only checked it out for
the fantastic poster and or Ethan Hawk. Why aren’t more horror movies like this
not made?<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Nothing wrong with the horrifically gawdy over the top wide
release films. But for true horror fans we tend to enjoy things, with feeling,
that feeling of the hair raising up on the back of your necks, jumping out of
the seat, having to look away from the impending doom, yelling at the
characters who want to check out noise in the basement. People say they love
horror and they list Stephen King and Evil Dead. But I want to talk to people
who love Peter Struab, Jack Ketchum, Robert Bloch, Dan Simmons, watch the films
‘The Host’ (2006), ‘Touch of Evil’ (1958), ‘Night Moves’ (1975), ‘It Follows’
(2014). Anyone could have made this movie on a shoe string budget. Some kids
using an iPhone or camcorder. Or some college students in Michigan who hit up
everyone they know for money to make a low budget horror film. Let all of us fans
agree Evil Dead and Stephen King are the shit and talk about the others.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqITX7Xh71u4DJ2Uo10kerzQsRlHkGr_wQm5ystSABXP3lqpPmoSB2PKK1MKKCtB0NeiX7fWRpzdE_SdOR7Or3wkzPusEyfOChxhepw7AM8lBr8XBMiZ8uGu7dgY-pOEaUfPG_ve-j6lCnXwxmNEQ6ptM7lO1SPS9WhzVT3FZzQ4fdFTIgwQf9uKUS/s1200/TBP%20mask.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="900" data-original-width="1200" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqITX7Xh71u4DJ2Uo10kerzQsRlHkGr_wQm5ystSABXP3lqpPmoSB2PKK1MKKCtB0NeiX7fWRpzdE_SdOR7Or3wkzPusEyfOChxhepw7AM8lBr8XBMiZ8uGu7dgY-pOEaUfPG_ve-j6lCnXwxmNEQ6ptM7lO1SPS9WhzVT3FZzQ4fdFTIgwQf9uKUS/w400-h300/TBP%20mask.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">It added an extra layer of creepy that this neighborhood is
right up the street from where I currently live. The film is a horror story
before the supernatural comes a knocking. The hero has no idea why he is doing
all these random things to escape and absolutely maddening he doesn’t stick to
one strategy. And the Grabber is playing his own little games that only make
sense to him. The Grabber is here to punish naughty boys and chew bubble gum,
he’s all out of gum.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen="" class="BLOG_video_class" height="266" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/nQWAVkx8O74" width="320" youtube-src-id="nQWAVkx8O74"></iframe></div><a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQWAVkx8O74&t=4s" target="_blank">YouTube Black Phone Trailer</a><br /><p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Ethan Hawke is just one of those actors that keeps showing
in good movies. He has been a few big movies, but repeatedly finds good movies
to be in. Mr. Hawke could be thought of a horror actor as of late but looking
at his IMDB page he has been in all types of movies, indies and takes
supporting rolls. Seeing interviews with actors on how all the good rolls dried
up or they got type casted. But Ethan has avoided this fate, been all over the
place for the better part of 40 years staring in big studio pictures and low

<p class="MsoNormal">A great story, that is going to spawn a prequal and a ton of
copy cats. It leaves a simple blue print on how to make a great movie. No need
for quick and witty dialog, big special effects budget, traveling around the
world for the perfect shot, tons of shooting locations, or make up. At the end
of the day anyone in the world could have shot this in their basement. Maybe
the production quality and acting wouldn’t be as good. At the same time it’s
not that easy to come up with a great idea, write it into a screen play, and
transfer that on to film. Writers Joe Hill (son of Stephen King), Scott
Derrickson, and Robert Carhill, and a mask designed by Tom Savini, just make it
look so easy here. <o:p></o:p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjfXaqQ3yembiovxbxKRijTzToKmkljh3a_qM7uWKeDvsG57n76KmlBg7kHgPwdBnB9iJca8-TbiHs1YoidAIyrQcrP2EIIFKP0bQl5pVwgB6zQNkkwn9Dvj4DpsCkclzRgf0ox8KB0ExY3i18QsQC5SvdeWWBkArxYOn0ZXrljMxBCjukVhE1ewwPS/s1260/TBP%20mask%202.webp" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="710" data-original-width="1260" height="180" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjfXaqQ3yembiovxbxKRijTzToKmkljh3a_qM7uWKeDvsG57n76KmlBg7kHgPwdBnB9iJca8-TbiHs1YoidAIyrQcrP2EIIFKP0bQl5pVwgB6zQNkkwn9Dvj4DpsCkclzRgf0ox8KB0ExY3i18QsQC5SvdeWWBkArxYOn0ZXrljMxBCjukVhE1ewwPS/s320/TBP%20mask%202.webp" width="320" /></a><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><br /><br />Jeffohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13161621712637609001noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7818446449632989279.post-17926206349762433502022-07-04T19:29:00.000-07:002022-07-04T19:29:04.061-07:00Bloody Hell Movie Review 2021<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiW83oKxLBLIH5aWWekK-iVBl96re72zrGDHL_0v2zGu9wgripVEbwtG0wyMDEKyR1IK5aGlVQLIvo0wWvhIxu_X1HXe7ATosMXKShkAsh6tr-nqrBUotckmjqQbE0-t4x_tgXi2Q7oGM2C3cdQfQoIlRdajTg4AgUQVUWiYCp1B34D_fjSdTO6axhA/s1280/BH%20poster.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="720" data-original-width="1280" height="225" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiW83oKxLBLIH5aWWekK-iVBl96re72zrGDHL_0v2zGu9wgripVEbwtG0wyMDEKyR1IK5aGlVQLIvo0wWvhIxu_X1HXe7ATosMXKShkAsh6tr-nqrBUotckmjqQbE0-t4x_tgXi2Q7oGM2C3cdQfQoIlRdajTg4AgUQVUWiYCp1B34D_fjSdTO6axhA/w400-h225/BH%20poster.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><p></p><p class="MsoNormal">It was once said every movie made has the same plot; Boy

<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p>Mr. Eastwood’s directorial debut, received critical acclaim
making $10,600,000 on a budget of $725,000. Making the moving outside of
Hollywood gave the first-time director more freedom to make the movie with his
own vision. But more importantly shooting on site (Carmel-by-the-Sea and other
North of LA coastal towns) saved money to be used elsewhere on production.
Giving the movie a more authentic feel. Not only is it expensive to build sets
but the look and sound “feel” is a lower quality effecting the acting on set.
Payback on both movies and music always has lagged the recording quality. Watch
Death Trap AKA Eaten Alive (1976) on a HD television, it feels fake. Having a
classic performance by Robert Englund and directed by Horror titan Tobe Hooper
it just seems like you’re watching a high school play with cheap props.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrNfcZb6qzcSxOCCH0zXEeq6RiQJPtKmlEsCunKs-K-9Us-kgX04d1al1N4nW5v9uXxFggsokG7AnvCThibKnhno-klU3r3c37jV4uCA23dcNvkmNPJt_Uvf0GM0DqwWuwviimier5tApyeWDT5oTegsipv54L250crGvXqi4ExtLPqvTo6ftqpDnL/s540/PMFM%20green.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="540" data-original-width="360" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrNfcZb6qzcSxOCCH0zXEeq6RiQJPtKmlEsCunKs-K-9Us-kgX04d1al1N4nW5v9uXxFggsokG7AnvCThibKnhno-klU3r3c37jV4uCA23dcNvkmNPJt_Uvf0GM0DqwWuwviimier5tApyeWDT5oTegsipv54L250crGvXqi4ExtLPqvTo6ftqpDnL/w266-h400/PMFM%20green.jpg" width="266" /></a></div><p class="MsoNormal"><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">This movie still is enjoyable to watch fifty years later due
to timeless quality of jazz and a great cast. Lots of Cartoons and Movies turned

part in this media than selling recording or tickets, sure it has been in style

<p class="MsoNormal">In some ways this is a good “bad” movie that came out to
late. The Banana Splits Movie (2020) felt more original and fresher. The final
girl doesn’t have much to do. It’s the Nick show and everyone else isn’t
important. The Janitor is a near perfect character, that explanation isn’t
needed. But, questions are all over. It draws you in without going down the
midichlorians rabbit hole.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-sk8tdSyrM28/YDmZv_rR3jI/AAAAAAAAA1c/wijJNJ-1Kxo9oR4YfjP2AEVYcPZ2BSDEwCLcBGAsYHQ/s2000/willys%2B2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1047" data-original-width="2000" height="210" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-sk8tdSyrM28/YDmZv_rR3jI/AAAAAAAAA1c/wijJNJ-1Kxo9oR4YfjP2AEVYcPZ2BSDEwCLcBGAsYHQ/w400-h210/willys%2B2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><p class="MsoNormal"></p><p class="MsoNormal"><o:p></o:p></p>

The third act drags a little bit. Emily Tosta who plays Liv didn’t have enough

especially the ending. Vast number of characters
we wonder what happened after the ending credits. Joe Dirt’s (2001) continuing
story needed to be told (Kid Rock you suck for not coming back for the second
movie!) God Damnit Not you Jason, No one cares! Now Cole on the other hand what
happens after your freaky hot and super cool babysitter tried to have her way
with you? Did that propel you to become the cool kid at school? Did you join
forces with other badass teenagers throw on some spandex to fight evil? Did you
finally write the song that would united the world? <p class="MsoNormal">It's kinda of a joke IMDB only has this rated 5.9, with the
tomato meter at 46%. Y’all not mad at Netflix for destroying your business
model are ya? The studio system has for a long time messed up movies, forced
actors into shitty roles, interfered with the filming, and butchered the
editing (all Sam Peckinpah movies) and if god forbid a classic was made, they
made sure the original people that made it a classic was no where near the
remake. Every horror franchise ever except Saw (2004) which is why it is one of
the highest grossing horror franchises and one of the newest. <o:p></o:p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gdX-vDIe_5E/X3UTxxo9RKI/AAAAAAAAAw4/I9I_YYTyouExtu3bnB3cx7hupT1NNKhWQCLcBGAsYHQ/s1400/BS%2BKQ%2B3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="700" data-original-width="1400" height="200" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gdX-vDIe_5E/X3UTxxo9RKI/AAAAAAAAAw4/I9I_YYTyouExtu3bnB3cx7hupT1NNKhWQCLcBGAsYHQ/w400-h200/BS%2BKQ%2B3.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><p class="MsoNormal">It is awesome to see this awesome cast back again. Milo (2013) is a must to check out. Robbie Amell only has a few scenes, and
each one kills. Both Samara Weaving and Emily Alyn Lind both come back looking
cute as ever with massive twists for their characters. Several newbies most
notably Jenna Ortega playing the anti-social bad girl way better than Megan Fox
ever could. Her character Phoebe is going to be a lot of fun to watch in the
third movie.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen="" class="BLOG_video_class" height="266" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/8WzUYkzRgBE" width="320" youtube-src-id="8WzUYkzRgBE"></iframe></div><a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8WzUYkzRgBE">Babysitter: Killer Queen</a><p class="MsoNormal"><o:p></o:p></p>

Cross between ‘Men

possessed to party.</p><p class="MsoNormal"><o:p></o:p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-bymbj8ohgZo/Xzsyj35tGBI/AAAAAAAAAuw/pEIhNnl2-HMvOo1ls6T4jd3hyXws4HBnwCPcBGAYYCw/s231/Fried%2BCover.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="231" data-original-width="154" height="451" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-bymbj8ohgZo/Xzsyj35tGBI/AAAAAAAAAuw/pEIhNnl2-HMvOo1ls6T4jd3hyXws4HBnwCPcBGAYYCw/w301-h451/Fried%2BCover.jpg" width="301" /></a></div><p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Barry is a small-time hustler, big time drug user with
little use for his family. The Aliens have no clue what hustling is, they love
partying, and weirdly have plenty of “use” for his family. Really like probing
humans, but one can only do that for so many hours of the day. Maybe the
probing machine needs to be recalibrated, recertified for high precision
probing. You know after all those probing accidents in the 50’s and people
remembering in the 80’s. If the probing machine gets too hot, bad things
happen.</p><p class="MsoNormal"><o:p></o:p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-NjPJpg-WXR0/Xzs0Y8wC2ZI/AAAAAAAAAvU/xSCVDH03R_4LVtJiRK6D__qDuinOEwAygCPcBGAYYCw/s350/FriedBarryHandstrailermaindudeTsr1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="168" data-original-width="350" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-NjPJpg-WXR0/Xzs0Y8wC2ZI/AAAAAAAAAvU/xSCVDH03R_4LVtJiRK6D__qDuinOEwAygCPcBGAYYCw/s0/FriedBarryHandstrailermaindudeTsr1.jpg" /></a></div><p></p>

And I believe! An alien walking around in a meat suite. Seeing everything for

Full Moon helmed by Charles Band has been entertaining
horror fans for almost forty years. The secret formula is surprisingly simple,
blood, beautiful women, ridiculous stories with a few dashes of boobs, perversion

millions trying to create profitable franchises. FMEU has Puppet Master,
Dollman, Trancers, Subspecies, Evil Bong, Killjoy, Demonic Toys, and Gingerdead.
Not to mention the other divisions like Moonbeam and Torchlight.<o:p></o:p></div>

<br /> "Booze, Broads and Blackjack" is entertaining and easy to watch. Movies like these are the reason cinema was created for the masses, and proof God loves us. No better way to waste a work night (or an epidemic) than plopping down and watching art happen. Director Rickey Bird has dropped several easter eggs throughout the movie as well as several cameos by himself and writer Carl Nicita. "Booze, Broads, and Blackjack" is just an all-around enjoyable movie. The Hectic Film crew made the impossible happen once again, even though they got their film trailer stolen like ten times during production (even saw a video of it being dragged off even though it was chained to a car).<div style="font-style: normal; font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0in; orphans: 2; widows: 2;">

Making a movie based on a book can provide huge challenges. Authors don't have to worry about the cost associated with multiple scenes and wardrobe changes, not to mention exotic foreign locales. When laying ink down on paper, or keystrokes on the magical glowing box that brings me endless joy, it's easy to dream up islands floating in the sky inhabited by blue creatures, huge castles with dragons flying overhead, a spaceship infested with alien life, or even blowing up much loved cultural landmarks throughout the world. Authors don't have to plan to fly a cast and crew to Las Vegas, nor do they have to worry about feeding and lodging arrangements. Set building and CGI is just a stroke of a pen to them.

At the same time, book to film adaptations create an opportunity to enhance the original story. Stephen King movies have greatly benefited from legendary directors improving on the source material. King's movies wouldn't have done so well without great talent behind the camera; "Carrie" (1976) had Brian De Palma, "The Shining'"(1980) had Stanley Kubrick, "Creepshow" (1982) had George Romero, "Christine" (1983) had John Carpenter, "Misery" (1990) Rob Reiner, both "The Green Mile" (1999) and "The Shawshank Redemption" (1994) were done by Frank Darabont.<div style="font-style: normal; font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0in; orphans: 2; widows: 2;">

"Booze, Broads and Blackjack" also took the opportunity to improve on the book. In particular, the character of Savannah in the book was too consequential and random. While reading the book, I really wanted her to turn into the psycho stalker from "Play Misty for Me" (1971) starring and directed by Clint Eastwood. Also fixed was the too cool for school, mister perfect, Jack King. Flawless characters are boring to watch. One reason "Breaking Bad" (2008-2013) was so good was because every character was frustratingly flawed. Jack transformed into the lovable spoiled screwup, who does everything he shouldn't. The movie fixed a couple plot points that didn't quite work. The book also had a bunch of awesome music interwoven into the story, songs that even a major Hollywood movie would have had issues getting the rights to, which this film did a great job working around. The music provided by Ghost Coast Productions, while not as legendary as the classics named in the book, did a great job filling the void.<br />

<br />Another reason "Booze, Broads and Blackjack" is so enjoyable to watch are all the beautiful women in the movie; Felissa Rose "Sleep Away Camp" (1983) and "Killer Rose" (2020), Erica Rey "Machine Gun Baby" (2018), and Sarah French "Rootwood" (2018). All too often, movies lacking million dollar budgets have problems attracting beautiful talent. Beautiful people are so much easier to watch. Plus a bunch of cool transition scenes helped the viewing experience. <br /><br />

<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-43R0Agbj0S4/XqSiXtZ-DbI/AAAAAAAAAq4/Utpb1b1DOOU-pDeC9BemIL_p5EPJizRygCEwYBhgL/s1600/BBB%2BJD.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="720" data-original-width="1280" height="225" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-43R0Agbj0S4/XqSiXtZ-DbI/AAAAAAAAAq4/Utpb1b1DOOU-pDeC9BemIL_p5EPJizRygCEwYBhgL/s400/BBB%2BJD.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="font-style: normal; font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0in; orphans: 2; widows: 2;">
<br /></div>
Also helping the viewing experience are Vincent Pastore and James Duval. Mr. Pastore has had a long and legendary acting career that jumped back and forth between big-budget Hollywood and indie productions. He did a cameo in an awesome movie reviewed here a couple years back called "Pitching Tents" (2017), check it out if you missed it. Because let's face it, we have seen all of his epic roles. Mr. Duval's Generation X social commentary cult classics led an entire generation into the decline of western civilization as we now know it. Seriously, if you haven't watched "The Doom Generation" (1995), otherwise known as Rose McGowan's first real role, or "SLC Punk" (1999), having lived in Salt Lake the repressed Mormon teens come out when the sun goes down (shhhh don't tell the church), still have fond memories of seeing punk bands in cramped basements.<div style="font-style: normal; font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0in; orphans: 2; widows: 2;">

Joon-ho Bong has quietly become one of
the best international directors behind only Guillermo del Toro
'Pan's Labyrinth' (2006) and 'Devil's Backbone' (2001). If you don't
know either one of these directors, fire up Google, Netflix, Red Box,
cable movie channel, or make a trip to Wal-Mart. Joon-ho has written
and directed some fantastic movies, including 'The Host' (2006) and
'Snowpiercer' (2013) often with themes of working-class or poor
struggling.

Following a broke unemployed family who
has to hustle to survive. A bit of good fortune gets them in with a
rich family. Neither family is portrayed as good or evil nor smart or
dumb. Too often in depictions of class struggle, the poor are dumb and
the rich are evil. Here we see the Kim family quickly motivated to
help each other out with numerous ingenious schemes, with each
family member contributing in his own way. The Park family busy
dealing with their own issues, having a large household tends to lead
to many things coming up. Simple things can have very different meanings depending on where one lives.</div>

While very sympathetic to the Kim
family, it slowly unravels an uncomfortable truth. True they are a
tight family who quickly helps each other. But, the person who
introduces them to the Park family is quickly betrayed. They are
ruthless in dispatching people in their way without a care. At one
point a neighbor needs help getting his loaded bicycle up the stairs,
they all rush past, not sparing ten seconds to help someone they
know. Each member is desperate to get a job so they can eat, at first.
That quickly gives way to taking advantage any way they can with
quickly looking down at the Park family for being naive. Within a
short time putting their new-found prosperity a risk. The father
Ki-taek who tries to be on his best behavior still is kind of rude,
disrespectful, lazy, has a body odor problem and is quick to point
the finger at someone else. To be fair the viewer sees how bad their
lives suck, the struggle is real!</div>

The movie takes a rollercoaster series
of sharp dark turns. I love it when I can't tell where a movie is
going. It ends in a deeply depressing thud. A promise is made, that
is hopeful and quickly uplifting, but much like in 'Death of
Salesman' an empty promise without merit. That leaves nothing but
sorrow and sadness, that can't be fulfilled. All the dark turns and
mayhem but nothing compares to the stark realization for the
survivers.

<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
A female-driven Ozploitation movie with
strong social commentary on how quick we are to judge others. Even
facing imminent death these girls can't stop their SJW crusade or
work together to live. The movie unfolds several twists on the
'hunting humans for sport' genre. On top of our heroine Kayla having
inopportune seizures. With each girl having a different idea on what
they need to do to survive.

The director, Tony D'Aquino, does a
good job of drawing the audience in. From (shocker) the girls doing
dumb things to get themselves killed to Kayla's (Airlie Dodds)
epileptic fits as a beast with a machete is chasing her. There are a
few well-timed moments of comic relief. He also tips the hat to
several horror movie classics.</div>

Unfortunately, this movie doesn't do
enough to stand out, with so many horror movies being released just
being good doesn't make the cut. Lost in a pool of blood with other
movies, 'Satanic Panic' (2019), 'Tone-Deaf' (2019), 'Riot Girls'
(2019), Witches in the Woods' (2019), 'Burn' (2019), 'Escape from
Cannibal Farm' (2019), 'Quarries' (2019), 'Camp Wedding' (2019), and
'Banana Splits Movie' (2019) give viewers no shortage of options.
There just isn't enough time to watch them all.

The only real thing that bugs me in any
movie like this, is showing tech that would require a full surgical
team to implant. The costs would be astronomical. Plus the likelihood
of failure and death. A missed opportunity, if a bunch of guys are
running a human hunting channel online for other dudes to watch they
would make the girls wear something more interesting than just the
"street" clothes they were wearing when they got snatched.
Any viewer of a reality show knows you have to meet the contestants.
Tony missed some easy film time that could have brought a little more
fun to this movie.

If you can make past the slow start
this movie is worth watching. As with a large number of Sylvester

<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
A movie that starts out with 80's
nostalgia with a feel of Friday the 13th Part 3 (1982). Got tricked
into watching this movie because it's rating on IMDB was 7.8/10. It
has since fallen down to 4.3 which is about where it should be. With
forgettable cliche characters and spec plot, the opening and middle acts
drag. The ninety seven minute run time could easily be trimmed down
to an hour. Which is short for a feature film but would pump up the
IMDB rating (gotta pump up those numbers rookie) plus make it more
watchable.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
The story borrows heavily from '80s
horror, kid dies at camp with a deranged counselor (Friday the 13th), on
cursed ground and evil spirits using technology (Poltergeist 1982)
everyone who has sex gets it first and people camping and fighting
for survival (every teen horror movie made ever). Nothing wrong with
paying homage to awesome cult favs (Tarantino has made a career doing
this). But add something to the story, make it worth watching. If
you're just ripping off other movies you should have plenty of time to
beef up the dialog and characters (or at least steal more from other
movies).

There are so many movies being made
now, films need to find a way to stand out. There was another bad
horror movie (I don't remember the name) released last year which had
that had the exact same opening and middle acts with the same cookie
cut out characters (But had better deaths), group of friends gather in
a cabin, people start dying. I've seen the same movie hundreds of
times!</div>

<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
The market is saturated with movies,
the effect of the digital age where anyone with a cell phone can make
a movie. If you're going to make a movie be interesting. Another movie
that just came out was 'The Banana Splits Movie' (2019). Which had
the hook of using an iconic 60's children's tv show. Unfortunately, no
one remembers, defeating the purpose of getting the rights of 'The
Banana Splits Adventure Hour' (1968-1970). But oh man watching the
intro and credits on YouTube brought back memories I didn't know I
had. Super cool they got the rights to this Hanna Barbara series and
Krofft puppets, too bad the movie was lame.</div>

</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
The final act pulled this movie out of
the dump bin. Nicely wrapping up what little story there was and
making sense out of some really lame deaths. The whole movie made
good use/mocking of modern technology. To bad the director, Greg
Emetaz, didn't make better use of Kelley Gates (played Mia) or Adam
Santos-Coy (Trask). Particularly Kelley it would have been fun to see
her bridezilla and crash diet more during the movie. Easily could have
filled twenty entertaining minutes with Kelley being bat guano crazy!</div>

Sig has been acting awesomeness for 50+ years if you've never seen
'The Host' (1960) do yourself a favor and find a copy. Joe Estevez
has 285 acting credits on IMDB, to put that into perspective Samual L
Jackson is listed at 184 acting credits and John Wayne is listed at
178 (Haig has149). Rounding out the trio of b-movie titans is Robert
Z'Dar (118 acting credits) in his last movie role. Everyone remembers
him from Tango & Cash (1989) but horror fans know him as 'Maniac
Cop' (1988) and the two sequels.

<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
It's funny how low budget movies with
blood and boobs get treated by rating sites. IMDB currently has this
movie at 3.7/10. Other movies that are much worse rate much higher;
'The Dead Don't Die' (2019) 6.0/10, 'Shed of the Dead' (2019) 5.4/10
(Liked this movie rating was spot on), 'The Domestics' (2018) 5.7/10.
But if the movie has an abundance of gore and boobs it doesn't matter
the quality or entertainment value of the film, the points disappear.
High on the Hog is more entertaining than any of these other ones.
The Dead Don't Die is a humorless take of the zombie apocalypse done
in a dry British humor style, but once again they forgot the humor so
really it's just dry British style that's BORING!</div>

The script had a concept for a powerful
new type of female superhero, a mix of dark humor with comedic
tongue-in-cheek horrific stylings thrown in, focusing more on
personal relationships than a plot or a point. A genius has a
vision, idea, a tremendous leap forward in entertainment marvel for
the masses. But, its too far from the normal cookie cutter movie
formula for anyone to understand it, much less foster it into life on
the silver screen. Yeah, don't listen to the guy who came up with the
concept...<br />

Looks like the problems on the film
started once the Kuzui's jumped on board to get the movie made. Joss
Whedon sold the rights to Sandollar with Fran and Kaz coming in to
help put the financing together for the film. Then Fran was given the
director position. Her only other director experience came from
'Tokyo Pop' (1988). A small art semi self biographical film that got
some critical acclaim. In the end, she didn't 'get' the material nor
could she reign in the actors. The casting agent completely nailed
the casting. But all the actors did their own thing. Giving the movie
a disjointed feel. The feud between Whedon and Donald Sutherland has
been well documented, leading to Whedon leaving the production. A lot
of people liked Paul Reuben's over the top zany performance but it
takes the viewer out of the scene due to the tone being completely
different. Seth Green getting left on the cutting room floor is a
direct slap to pop culture nerdom in every way possible. He already
had created a strong body of work and recognizable to most moviegoers and horror fans (he was in 'It' (1990)). Re-watching this,
maybe the only actor or person who got the concept, outside of Whedon, was Luke Perry.<br />

People will point to Wonder Woman
(1975-1979) as a man hanging back as a girl does the fighting. But
Steve Trevor didn't know Diana Prince was Wonder Woman. He had no
relationship with Wonder Woman. Most of the time a superhuman
goddess comes out of nowhere solves the case beats up the mere mortal
bad guy laughably easy, tells a bewildered Colonel Trevor what
happened and who to arrest than disappears before he gets the stupid
look off his face and has a chance to hit on her. After which old
Stevo has to go back to the nerdy Diana who has this hot Liberian
thing going on.

Pike, on the other hand, learns Buffy is
the chosen one. Not being emasculated by Buffy being an army-of-one.
He hangs back dutifully holding her purse and occasionally handing
his better half a stake before scurrying back to where he can get a
nice safe view of Buffy's backside. Perry played this role with a
soft touch, the end one believes the heartfelt moments, and he
doesn't have any alpha male issues boiling under his sweet smile.
Kristy Swanson was born to play Buffy! Unfortunately, they had her
play the character dumb. She's isn't mentally challenged, she is just
a typical teen focused on going to prom, then Europe, and then
marrying a famous actor, and then dying.

Letting Whedon leave production is akin
to someone firing Steve Jobs from Apple, or turning off Stephen
Hawking's computer, or locking Albert Einstein in the bathroom during
a meeting, or publishing Stephen Kings script for the Stand after
only a thousand pages, or letting a studio head green light a DC
movie that isn't Lobo, or ending Games of Thrones before the last
book is published. Just shows a little bit more how clueless
Fran Rubel Kuzui was. She didn't recognize Whedon's utter total
reality smashing genius or how this game-changing script worked.
Further proved by the tv show being a huge hit.

A very young Lee Majors appears uncredited in this movie. His first credited film role was in arguably one of the greatest westerns of all time Will Penny (1967) from there the movie side of the business went downhill fast! Even though he was an up and coming actor, choosing to be in two movie horrors (not in a good way), 'The Norseman' (1978), don't watch under any circumstance, and 'Killer Fish' (1979), a very bad knock off of the already flooded 'killer fish movies'. But these highlights the difference between movies and TV. Make a bad TV pilot, it dies with little notice when the series doesn't get picked up. Make a bad movie it lives on into infinity and beyond, unless your Jerry Lewis 'The Day the Clown Cried' (1972). Nowadays he is best known for playing a parody of himself like in 'Ash vs Evil Dead' (2016-2018).</div>

In the twilight of her career, Joan Crawford found new life in The Psycho Biddy movies. One of the biggest names in the '30s by the time this movie was made she was more known for feuding with anyone who crossed her path and being a diva on set. Unfortunately, the reason this movie isn't better can directly be traced back to her. Crawford still had incredible pull, having the script rewritten and numerous actors replaced. Just cause you can act doesn't mean you can write or understand a script (looking at you Donald Sutherland). Known to most people from the unflattering tell-all book 'Mommy Dearest'.<br />

<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Unfortunately William Castle, by finding creative ways to promote his movies, became to be viewed as a B-movie film-making schmuck. Castle was the ultimate movie making hustler. Not only directing, producing, and starring but also pulling off outrageous stunts to promote his movies. Before the XD experiences, we have now in movie theaters, there was William Castle! His movies were much better than their budget should have allowed. Finding actors that deserved better scripts. And finding scripts that deserved better budgets. He had a hand in bringing to life some of the best horror movies in the fifties and sixties. He also tried to get studios to green light 3d years before the first, studios said there was no market for cheap gimmicks like that. Unfortunately, after the success of 'Rosemary's Baby' (1969) (purchased the rights but couldn't find a studio who would let him direct it) his health declined and he only worked on a couple more B-movies before his death.</div>

George Kennedy plays the cruel opportunistic farm hand to perfection. A fixture in movies for over fifty years. He never got the leading man roles, but the more interesting supporting characters. Including a horror fan favorites 'The Terror Within' (1989), 'Creep Show 2' (1987) and 'Brain Dead; (1990). At the time of this movie, he was still a relatively unknown TV actor. Playing tough guys with limited lines.</div>

<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
The main reason why this movie has faded into obscurity is it doesn't compete in any category. It's not the best Psycho Biddy movie, both Whatever happened to Baby Jane? (1962) and Hush.... Hush, Sweet Charlotte (1964) were better. It's not the best Castle movie, not even for that year 'The Night Walker' is better. Castle both directed and produced better movies, 'House on Haunted Hill' (1959) and 'Rosemary's Baby' (1968). It's not Robert Bloch's (an H.P. Lovecraft protege) masterpiece, he wrote Psycho (1960). But it's still a fun movie to watch. <br />

A gritty mashup of Pans Labyrinth (2006) and Evil Dead (1981) with a much darker end. A trip into a weird universe that brings out the certifiable mental patient in people. Siblings McKenzie and Martin with a group of friends follow a trail of bread crumbs left by their missing sister into a backwater hell hole. Where the group splinters into madness.<br />

Director and writer, Nicholas Woods creates a universe that's interesting and has more stories to tell. Most of the major characters are fully formed. Even some of the secondary people leave you wanting to know what their story is. Two of the local boys go off to "play" in one of the other gates, leaving me really wanting to see their little adventure. The gate the sister is in, is visited all too briefly. But reveals images that beg to be expanded on, a story that needs telling.</div>

They do a good job with the budget they have (seriously Deadpool 2 spent more on one AC/DC song than they did on all the guns in the first movie and probably the second too! and Ryan wannabe super hero with his CGI abs Reynolds, took three times to finally get one right, makes one bad rom-com after another and than gets to be Deadpool! Someone should sew his mouth shut, shave his head, make him wear a green fat suit and star in the remake of Deliverance playing Ned Beatty's role.), I've seen many Friday the 13th movies that looked and felt much cheaper than The Axiom.<br />

This film has good cast aided by well-defined characters. It's amazing how enjoyable it is to watch beautiful women. Cinematographer spends an extraordinary amount of time focusing on Hattie Smith's butt (we might have a creeper). Which wears the best looking pair of Daisy Dukes since Dukes of Hazard. The way this movie ends, can disappoint depending on how you like movies to end. First time I watched Barracuda (1978) it blew my little mind, a film could end like that. The big difference in these two movies is I would want to watch The Axiom again, and not just because the batteries in the remote are dead, when it happens to come on Svengoolie for the tenth time. <br />

Sawyer (played by Hermione Cornfield) is an A-type personality, who has a dream job lined up, ready to conquer the brutal grind of the nine to five world of corporate America. Unfortunately, she is stuck in hillbilly hell between being chased by some pig farmers who think old sow Sally has a sexy little wiggle, a sheriff looking to retire early, and a meth cook cranking out batch after batch of poison while contemplating a good way to end it all.<br />

<br />
One thing the film briefly touched on was 'what would one do to survive they would normally recoil in horror from?' We all know the morally challenging question of 'would you steal bread for your starving children?' The film skirted past all too quickly the moral questions the main character gets faced with. Missing out on adding some meat on to the story-line and critical character development. The one that gets used often in horror is will someone who's a pacifist fight to save themselves and their friends. Exploring human nature and what individuals will do to preserve their own lives is what makes the Saw (2004-2017), which is the second highest grossing horror franchise behind only Aliens (1979-2012), movies so interesting.<br />

<br />
The small details do matter in being able to draw viewers into a movie. The lead character has a huge gash on her leg. There is no serious attempt to apply pressure and dress the wound till a day later. Also not addressed is how cold it is. There is no effort made to go back for clothes or keep warm. Even though with the loss of blood and being exposed to the elements all night any mere mortal would have gotten hypothermia and not been able to get up the next morning. You don't have to be Bear Grylls to realize treating gushing leg wound is a priority as is staying warm in freezing temperatures.<br />

Director Jen McGowan lets the viewer in on all the forces working against Sawyer. Leaving the viewer in on all the twists and dangers awaiting her. Most movies we already guessed who the bad guys are, when they will jump out, which side character will get it, and the heroine will get away. By showing the twists one isn't watching the movie calling out each scene before it happens. You just enjoy watching the movie.<br />

Don't know what the hell I just watched, but I liked it. Director/writer Aaron K. Carter must be mentally ill or using some good shit, or maybe he sees dead people, who knows. The movie keeps taking psychotic left turns to the outfield of insanity. Saying this is a horror film, doesn't cut it. It's more like the comedic Gremlins (1984) than psychological insanity of Evil Dead (1981) with a couple dashes of 'I Spit on Your Grave' (1978). I laughed my ass off and was thoroughly entertained. Even though I'm still thoroughly confused to that I watched. Reminds me of early Peter Jackson's work like Dead Alive (1992) and Bad Taste (1987).</div>

<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Two hit-men, well one hit-man and one hit-boy, have an hour to kill before their next 'job'. They waste some time by swapping stories. Not really do they see eye to eye on anything or alike in anyway. Frankie is more of the kind of man-child that relaxes by dropping some Molly, put his hair up in a man-bun and crank up some death metal type. While Gio is more of a bourbon and smooth jazz connoisseur.</div>

<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Each story goes further down the rabbit hole of bad taste. Frankie is played over the top by Frankie Pozos. One of the reasons this movie works is everyone is 'in on it'. No one is trying to show off their classically trained Shakespearean acting skills. Its a low budget horror movie with a silly streak. The Daily Show (1996-) was so much better with Jon Stewart because he was 'in' on the joke, the new guy doesn't realize his show runs on Comedy Central. Arron Guerrero (Gio) plays the straight man, balancing out the cast. Too often directors, writers, and actors forget horror movies need humor. It's one of the reasons why Rob Zombies Halloween (2007) is better than the original. Humor is Yin to horrors Yang. Highs and lows, peaks and valleys, pull 'em in with humor and shock 'em with terror, it takes viewers for a ride.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ejtuUUB_eZI/XAR2JX-j-wI/AAAAAAAAAg0/ZqZn7h2pXxQO86dc3TqlE0EoMQn6SnksQCEwYBhgL/s1600/An%2BHour%2Bto%2BKill%2Bgirls.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="720" data-original-width="960" height="300" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ejtuUUB_eZI/XAR2JX-j-wI/AAAAAAAAAg0/ZqZn7h2pXxQO86dc3TqlE0EoMQn6SnksQCEwYBhgL/s400/An%2BHour%2Bto%2BKill%2Bgirls.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Nothing in the movie looks low budget. The cinematography is crisp and seamless. Standing up well next to the millions of dollars pieces of garbage Hollywood spews out weekly. Locations are used instead of cheap looking staged sets. One of the problems with Tobe Hooper's 'Eaten Alive' (1976) (budget $520,000) was it was shot on sound stages. Compare that to Clint Eastwood's 'Play Misty' (1971) (budget $725,000) that was filmed on location, you can see the difference. Not known as a horror star (was in 'Revenge of the Creature' and 'Tarantula' (both 1955)) but 'Play Misty' and 'The Beguiled' (1971) are both twisted movies. An Hour to Kill has the look and feel of a movie ten times its minuscule budget of six hundred thousand dollars.</div>

<br />
The moral of the story is to get true revenge on a man (for a mid-evil act) is to make his granddaughter dance in a country bar full of rednecks. Or maybe the older man's stories aren't always bullshit. <br />

This enjoyable little splat of an Ozploitation movie is a great way to kill a Sunday afternoon. A family goes for a picnic in a picturesque location next to a babbling little stream. Not deterred by reports of people missing, and a killer pig on the lose. They quickly find out they should have spent family time at the pub bonding over pints, or better yet shots.<br />

<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
One thing that drives me crazy is how well made this movie is, without doing anything to try and push it into cult status or round it out to a better movie. It's a spec script with a good director. It's a basic 'people go into the woods to camp, there is a monster in those woods, and the people end up fighting for survival' film. Chris Sun is a talented director, it just seems all he is trying to do with this movie is getting on base, not hit a home run.<br />

The cast, like most Aussie films, is full of colorful characters. You will recognize most of them from other famous films made down-under. Almost expect Paul Hogan and John Meillon(Crocodile Dundee) to stroll into the bar. Well, not John he's dead. And well not Paul, doesn't he owe a bunch of taxes to the Australia government? The cast adds a lot of warmth to the movie.<br />

Nathan Jones stands out, at 6'11" and four hundred pounds of muscle, he's hard to miss. When he looks at someone, the viewer feels 'bad shit' gonna happen! Reading up on him, this guy is legit scary, on Australia's most wanted list when he was eighteen. Spent time in Maximum Security prisons. When he goes head to head with the monster, PETA is concerned for the well being of the pig. Definitely a towering presence on the screen.<br />

<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
There are a couple of things that bring this film down. The ending is a little too happy for a horror movie. They also missed out in developing the relationship more between Bernie and the bartender. The monster is shown for way too long in full daylight, a major sin in horror movies. And the ladies aren't given much to do, except look pretty.<br />

A good B-movie to eat some popcorn too. Don't take it too seriously and it's a good time. And it's safe enough to watch with dear old mom upstairs (for all you basement dwellers that still live at home).<br />

<br />
Very ambitious attempt from a small studio, Shady Dawn Pictures, and Director Ryan Callaway. 'Let's Not Meet' starts off as a typical young people go camping and end up fighting for survival film. Turns with a few twists into something with depth and a story to tell. Aya is a loner pizza delivery girl (how come the fat guy who delivers my pizza doesn't look like this!) that gets thrown in with the girls that bullied her in high school to fight the creepy thing in the woods. Early money says they're all dead by dawn!<br />

<br />
Several things have this movie punching above its weight class. First is the cinematography provided by Marcel Brown. Most low budget films (and some big ones) fall into making the screen too dark for night time shots. Visuals are crisp and well lit here. Watch 'Everly' (2014) for an example of a horribly shot movie. Second is CFX Composite Effects providing a badass monster. Most low budget movies should do everything possible to not really show the monster. Third, there is a number of wonderful scenes. One that stands out the most is Aya Skyping her niece. These scenes show we will see many more movies from Callaway. Peter Jackson started out with 'Bad Taste' (1987) and James Cameron started out with 'Piranha 2' (1981). Callaway started out with Let's Not Meet!<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
One thing that drags the story down is 'mansplaining' everything, like George Lucas needing to dive deeper into Midi-Chlorians. No one cares George! By trying to put everything on a silver platter for the viewer not only does it slow the film down to a crawl multiple times but makes the holes even bigger. When it sticks to being a creepy thing in the woods, it's great. But through trying to explain the creepiness, it just kills the pace, not to mention weakens the reveal. It's a visual medium, show the viewer the story. If I wanted words I'd read a book!<br />

<br />
Another is by having too many characters, most seem cardboard, just like their deaths. Anytime someone shows a little emotion or starts having fun, they provide a huge spark for the movie. The overly somber tone leaves one praying for a girl to freak out, run off naked through the woods to her over-the-top bloody death. Good actors like Donald Sutherland, Anthony Hopkins, or Mel Gibson can read the telephone book and be interesting. Most actors in low budget movies aren't quite on this level. Breanna Engle gives a great performance with the somber tone working well for her character Aya. Along with Carmine Giordano who plays man-child Nate, gives the movie most of its spark. Mr. Callaway needed to find ways to make give the other characters personalities. It's a great seventy-minute movie, unfortunately, it's longer than that.....<br />

<br /></div>
A wonderfully demented look at a mother and son's special relationship. Oliver has 99 problems and Mama is the cause of all of them! Even though Oliver is halfway around the world from Mama, she holds an ironclad grip over his mental stability. When Mama is horny, no one is safe!<br />

<br />
It would be easy to lump this film in with Psycho (1960). Try and make a connection as an updated version for this generation. But that would be a disservice to everyone involved in making this movie. Director Richie Moore does nothing to copy or emulate Alfred Hitchcock's work. The story bares no resemblance, except for a mentally unstable man who loves his mother. The film isn't suspenseful or trying to make audience members jump out of their seats. Who's Watching Oliver is just telling the story of a horrific tale. The horror are the events unfolding on the screen.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Mr. Moore doesn't leave one boring second on the screen. The story unfolds quickly. The plot set up and character development are smoothly rolled out. Russell Geoffrey Banks as Oliver is uneasy to watch. But that is the point, an awkward, loner, who has obvious mental development issues, makes most people uncomfortable. Mr. Banks plays the character very well, not too much (Never go full retard!), and is unrecognizable in this role. Sara Malakul Lane plays the damaged Sophia, the girl who disparately needs to seek anyone to save her from the life she's trapped in.<br />

<br />
This film deserves better ratings, IMDB 5.6/10. Beware of gratuitous nudity and sexual content. It goes to some sexually deprived places. They did use many buckets of blood without ever wandering into grindhouse territory. I would not recommend watching this with your kids or going upstairs to watch it with your mom. Shut the curtains tight, make sure the door is locked, and put on the headphones. Guaranteed to make you feel funny, kinda like climbing the rope in gym class.......<br />

<br />
Red lives in the middle of nowhere with his bookworm girlfriend, the perfect place for a little mayhem. A chance encounter on a dirt road causes a cult leader to unleash the spawns of hell on the unsuspecting couple. Just for an opportunity to drop acid with Reds girlfriend. Normally this would be a very short movie but Red isn't just a country bumpkin lumberjack. Oh no, he's secretly a billy-bad-ass. Evil hellions don't stand a chance!<br />
<br />

<br />
It's so cliche that critics love this movie. Actors starring blankly off into the abyss, full frontal flaccid male nudity, weird lighting, low quality grainy film, symbolism driven flashbacks that are open to interpretation, a painfully slow story that makes little sense, which runs for an hour longer than it should, all the things critics love but have nothing to do with enjoyable entertainment for the rest of us.<br />

<br />
One the best things about this movie is Cage stays away from playing an over the top parody of himself for most of the film. The character of Red never really develops, he gets introduced as a simple lumberjack. Then after they take his girl, he goes to an old friend to get his crossbow. Which is never explained. It's not like its a fully automatic assault rifle with a rocket launcher that you have to hide from the government, girlfriend, and mother. Even weirder his friend, after learning a cult with demon spawned bikers from hell for muscle, killed Reds girlfriend, does nothing. But Red goes home and forges a wicked battleax in only a couple hours, should have at least taken a couple weeks, good thing he has a mold laying around for it, and just so it looks cool for his revenge-vigilante-murder spree, he gives it a chrome finish. When he starts taking demons and cult member out one by one he also is suddenly an expert in close quarters hand to hand combat.<br />

<br />
This movie is bad, boring and tedious. All the monsters/demons/hell spawns stay in the dark with only their outlines visible. Which the outlines make no sense or convey little to no evil or terror. The characters, for the most part, are just there. The viewer feels nothing during the initial attack. No attachment either way for anyone. The only feeling I had was relief when the credit finally started rolling. The best thing about this movie is Red's wicked cool retro Tiger jersey!<br />

Another Puppet Master movie dropped this year. If you're keeping count at home that is a total of 13 PM movies. Finding out it was released made me realize how much I miss the bonus features on dvds or end content on VHS tapes. There was a time I couldn't wait for the next Full Moon movie to come out. VideoZone always had me begging for more. It was cool to see the 'making of' and interviews with the cast. With so many ways to reach fans today, nothing can really replace the ease of pushing out all that extra content on the same DVD as the movie.</div>

<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Charles Band has created some good horror series under Full Moon for over thirty years. The creative artist being able to hold onto the rights of their creation has led to long-running franchises. Under the studio system, someone was lucky to hold on to their creation for one movie. The only way to get a movie made was to give up the rights. Sam Peckinpah ('Wild Bunch 1969', 'Straw Dogs 1971', 'The Getaway 1972') had a long history of having his movies taken away in post-production, getting an edit that audiences couldn't follow. Friday the 13th series quickly became under the control of someone who rapidly shifted to cheap gimmicks and into a TV series that made no sense. The Xtro movie the writer/director was able to keep control of the name but not the story. There has been far to many movies, fans want to see, but rights issues make it improbable. The Saw Series quickly became the high grossing horror franchise of all time due to having the person who created it, retaining control.<br />

<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Full Moon movies tend to stick to a common formula that works well for horror films, babes, boobs, blood and beasts without taking themselves to seriously. Without ever getting too crazy in any one area. Not 'Dead Alive' (1993) gory, not 'Slave Girls Beyond Infinity' (1987) boobies, and not overusing the big-bad. With the Muppet Master series, they rotate in different puppets each movie. Every fan has his favorite. Not only does this allow them to show off new puppets but leaves fans wanting to see the next movie to see old crowd pleasers but also what devilish new creations will be rolled out next.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-rlwEx_Lnam8/W58CnVWHH8I/AAAAAAAAAcg/w7QSd3SUTqAxfS29nV56_DDL6fZk0yVrACLcBGAs/s1600/puppet-master-the-littlest-reich-2018.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="457" data-original-width="800" height="227" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-rlwEx_Lnam8/W58CnVWHH8I/AAAAAAAAAcg/w7QSd3SUTqAxfS29nV56_DDL6fZk0yVrACLcBGAs/s400/puppet-master-the-littlest-reich-2018.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Unfortunately, Full Moon movies always tend to have slow spots. The first ten minutes is painfully slow. There is nothing interesting. The dialog, especially between father and son, falls completely flat. These early minutes have a dated feel to them. But, the latest installment of the long-running series quickly picks up when Ashley the girl next door (Jenny Pellicer) shows up and doesn't slow back down. Scream Queen Barbara Crampton had a small role in the first one returns for a bigger part here. Very cool how after thirty years they can bring back one of the original actors. Also, starring is Michael Pare, who was incredible in some early 80's cult movies, 'Streets of Fire' (1984) is a must see. This newest installment does a good job of standing on its own. So if you haven't seen any of the others or have missed a few it's not a big deal. It's a puppet gone wild, kind of movie.<br />
