Hope (2026) Movie Review

So many horror movies coming out, this one is worth watching! So easy for any one to make a movie, any smart phone can record high quality video, tons of editing software online. Anyone with a half of concept and a little free time can release a movie to the masses. Of course, most take a mildly disinteresting idea and dilute it with a half-ass execution mixed with a little THC, we get a movie no one wants to see.  Even some of the big studio releases no one wants to see. Seriously who green-lit Digger, Other Mommy, or one of my favorite John Wayne films Angels and the Badman (seriously no one saw the first one, and it was Phenomenal!)?

This is one of those movies you wish got the Mystery Science Theater 3000 treatment. Have Joe Buck and Troy Aikman calling play by play. Taking cheap shots perhaps till the death, there can only be one. Maybe a little product placement. Nike can supply the creatures with some shoes. And Dodge can provide some Hellcat Chargers for the police. The chase scenes would be grandiose (word of the day TP).

Director Na Hong-jin crafted a layered story and brought it to life. The creature feature where no one is the standard plastic good or evil, hero or an anti-hero, disposable character only there to provide a part to stretch screen time, set-up a throw away sequence or quick laugh. It is funny to see south Korea has hillbillies too. Without a doubt, this filmmaker promises to be a compelling talent in the coming years.

We believe individuals will not make decisions that negatively impact themselves. But we see people around us making the worst decisions, all the time. This film shows questionable actions. In real life under a high-pressure catastrophe people make bad spit second choices. The audience see characters do some dumb things here.

Highly recommend a watch. It’s not your typical straight forward monster film, Monster bad, people fight monster, either the monster or humans die, end movie. Be warned, there are subtitles. But the horrible excruciating pain of having to read, is worth the price of admission. Can’t wait to see the second one!

'Kill Her with Goats' (2023) Movie Review

Interesting little movie focusing most of its efforts on gratuitous nudity. Don’t get me wrong put a beautiful person on screen reading a dictionary, it’s easy to watch and hard to turn off. This film could be so much more. Has a wonderful blend of legend, reality, and supernatural. The legend and supernatural felt underdeveloped, the gratuitous nudity felt overdeveloped (no pun intended).

Seeing Kane Hodder’s name made me click play. Being a huge name in horror movies for over three decades, in interviews he always seems to be a fan of the genre. Playing Goatface, he stalks the beautiful woman who should easily out run him. But we are sure glad they aren’t making much of an effort to get away (so is Kane, at his age he wouldn’t be able to catch, well anyone accept Betty White and she’s dead). What isn’t slowing down is his career. Eight upcoming projects are in the works. Including Spawn of the Dead which seems to include every B-list actor in Hollywood.

Directed by Steve Wolsh, whose main talent seems to be convincing beautiful women to star in his films. But to be fair, he made this movie on a limited budget and I want to see a sequel. The filming was started in 2015 but the didn’t get released till 2023. Guessing he faced plenty of issues trying to complete the film. His upcoming film is a remake of Return of the Living Dead 2027. Looking forward to seeing this. Most would try and sanitize it to reach a broader audience.  I have faith Steve is going to crank up the gore and nudity enough to make Art the Clown blush!

The one question you have to ask yourself before you watch this film, is do you want to see Kane Hodder chase nude women around? This movie is what every thirteen-year-old basement dwelling pimple face future film maker teen wishes they could make with their older sister’s friends.
